Konstantinos Lazarakis MW at a glance
Born in Piraeus, he studied Mechanical Engineering in the National and Technical University of Athens, as well as Jazz at Aeolian Music School. In 2002, at the age of 32, he became a Master of Wine, while being awarded with the “Bollinger Medal” and “Villa Maria Award” for outstanding performance in wine tasting and on the “Viticulture” paper respectively during his IMW exams. Many prestigious distinctions were to follow.
Being the first Master of Wine from Greece and the broader region of SE Europe, Konstantinos Lazarakis has been an active advocate for Greek wine around the world. Charismatic communicator and educator, he has been a source of inspiration for both the last and the coming generations of wine professionals in Greece and beyond, and has contributed decisively to the shaping of a sustainable wine culture and the establishment of world-acclaimed wine education in his birth land. Konstantinos’ book “THE WINES OF GREECE”, updated since 2018, is considered a textbook in English for anyone interested in the development of the Greek wine industry.
Konstantinos is the Imports Director for Aiolos Wines in Athens, co-owns the wine communications agency Wine Wonders, while works as a consultant for major associations and companies (Wines of Greece, Enterprise Greece, Aegean Airlines, Costa Navarino Resorts etc). He is President of the Thessaloniki International Wine and Spirits Competition, as well as of the Balkan International Wine Competition, and member of the International Food & Wine Society.
He founded W.S.P.C. in 2004 together with John Trypkos and Antonia Kyriazis, and carries the duties of Chairman.
